Morgansmom asked:
I remember reading a story about 15-20 years ago about a girl who woke up in a carriage and didn't know where she was. There was a nice dress and some jewelry in the carriage with her and she put it on. The carriage stopped and she got out and everyone treated her like she was a princess (But she knew she wasn't, but she went along with it) and after a while even more weird stuff happened, and it turned out this had all happened before to other girls and they were turned into Harpies?
I cannot remember the title or author and I can't remember how the book ended. Does anyone else remember this book?

never read the book, but i did some poking around and could it be “The Seventh Princess” by Nick Sullivan?
here’s the amazon page
here’s a better description of the book from the canadian amazon page:
Worried about her homework assignment to write about her strangest dream, Jennifer falls asleep on the school bus. She awakes as Princess Miranda, in a beautiful land called Eladeria. But being a princess is no dream come true. Like the six princesses brought to Eladeria before her, Jennifer’s fate is to be changed into a vicious harpy to serve the wicked sorceress Swenhild! Will courage, loyal friends and the magic of the Stone of Seeking be enough for Jennifer to save herself and restore the true King to his throne? Jennifer will have the best dream ever to write about, if only she can make it back safely to her own world!
hope this helped.

Since you got your answer already, and you like children’s scifi/fantasy, have you read “The Giver” by Lois Lowry? Also a good read is the series “The Spiderwick Chronicles”.

NO, I don’t know that book. But like you, I remember a book but not its title, nor who wrote it. (But I wish I could read it again, maybe even buy the copy right. ) The one I’m thinking of is entiely different-A girl ( I’m not sure how old. Maybe 7 to 13) wore a unicorn necklace. She lived with a friend, (an older girl or a lady) wanted to adopt her. the friend keptintending to adopt her, but didn’t get around to it. Then some time later in the book,
she met her uncle Richard in Monterey, CA, who had a big house- every room had a fire place. He had house servants
(maids, butlers, ect) and at the end, he adopted her. I think it was called Magic Unicorn, but I’m not totatlly sure. There was another book called something Unicorn ( in which a man from the real world was living in a fantasy like world as a magician). I think it was called Black Unicorn. But again, I’m not sure. Do you know either of thoes two books? I read them to my grandmother (the first one in the late 80s and the other in the early 90s). I haven’t seen or found either book anywhere, since then. Maybe we could help each other, but looking for each of the books, at the book store.

I’m sorry that I don’t know your book, but if your question goes unanswered, here are some other places you can post your description:
Loganberry Books is a bookstore in Ohio. For two dollars (you can pay by PayPal), the owner will post your query to the “Stump the Bookseller” page. I’ve seen a lot of success here. This is the oldest place on the web that I know of that ID’s books.
AbeBooks.com’s “BookSleuth Forum” is an interactive message forum where you can get instantaneous feedback on your description. Make sure you read the “TIPS” thread before posting, because it contains a lot of information to help you formulate a good post. Members are from all over the world. It is free, but you must register before posting.
This is a relatively new website, but seems to be fairly well attended. You have to register to post.
Good luck in finding your book!
