I was looking in the mall at an 2ct. emerald cut ring with the center stone, bagettes, and the princess diamonds mounted in the channel of the band. That ring was nearly $6,000 on sale. A friend of mine told me about an ebay dealer he purchased a ring from and told me he paid 2,500 for a 2.5ct. ring and later had it appraised for 6,500. The ring I'm looking at is about $1700, as I don't have a fortune to spend. It's a 1.5 ct. emerald cut. The center stone is .40ct, two bagettes are .50ct, and it has .60ct princess cut diamonds on the channel of the band. Question is, is this a good size ring for someone with a budget. I don't know what a .40ct emerald cut diamond will look like, and the measurements. Please help.

.40ct isn’t that small of a stone and with all the other stones it should make for a good size ring. I would say it sounds like a very nice ring.
